先日、一人の生徒が英検サポートを申し込みませんでした。

理由を聞くと、

「美希先生に緊張するから。」

とのことでした。

ほとんどの子どもたちは私のことを慕ってくれます。

でも、私は30年間子どもたちを見てきて思うのです。

🌿 誰からも好かれる先生はいません。

もし全員に好かれていると思い込んだら、きっと私は天狗になってしまいます。

だから、一人でも違う反応をしてくれる子の存在は、とても大切です。

その子は、

✨ 「私は万能ではない。」

✨ 「相手には相手の感じ方がある。」

ということを教えてくれるからです。

だから私は、その子を無理に誘いません。

「どうして来ないの？」

「大丈夫だから来てごらん。」

そんなふうに心を開かせようとは思いません。

以前、こんな言葉を学びました。

🚪 「心を閉ざした人のドアノブは、内側にしか付いていない。」

外からどれだけ引っ張っても、ドアは開きません。

開けられるのは、本人だけです。

私たち教師にできることは、ドアをこじ開けることではありません。

ドアの前で、

🍀 「いつでも待っているよ。」

と伝え続けること。

そして、その子が自分のタイミングでドアを開けたときに、笑顔で迎えることです。

🌱 私が目指したい先生は、

「誰からも好かれる先生」ではありません。

🍀 「安心できるタイミングが来たら、この先生のところへ行ってみよう。」

そう思ってもらえる先生です。

子どもには、それぞれのペースがあります。

🌸 すぐに心を開く子もいれば、

🌱 時間をかけて少しずつ安心を積み重ねる子もいます。

だから私は、無理にドアを開けようとはしません。

🚪 心を閉ざした人のドアノブは、内側にしか付いていないからです。

私にできることは、

😊 笑顔で待つこと。

🌿 「いつでもおいで。」という空気をつくること。

そして、その子が自分の意思で一歩踏み出したときに、

✨ 「待ってたよ。」

と迎えることです。

教育とは、子どもを思い通りに変えることではありません。

子どもが自分から一歩踏み出せる環境を整え、その瞬間を信じて待つこと。

私は、そんな教師でありたいと思っています。🌿

🌱 No Teacher Is Loved by Every Student

The other day, one student decided not to join my Eiken support program.

When I asked why, the answer was simple.

“Because I get nervous around Miki Sensei.”

Most of my students enjoy being with me.

But after teaching children for 30 years, I have learned something important.

🌿 No teacher is loved by every student.

If I ever believed that everyone liked me, I would probably become arrogant.

That is why I value the students who react differently.

They remind me that…

✨ I am not a perfect teacher.

✨ Every child sees and feels things differently.

So I don’t try to persuade that student.

I don’t say,

“Why don’t you join?”

or

“Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.”

Instead, I simply wait.

Years ago, I learned a beautiful saying.

🚪 “The doorknob to a closed heart is only on the inside.”

No matter how hard we pull from the outside, the door will never open.

Only the person inside can open it.

As teachers, our job is not to force the door open.

Our job is to stand outside and quietly say,

🍀 “I’ll be here whenever you’re ready.”

Then, when that child opens the door in their own time, we welcome them with a smile.

🌱 The kind of teacher I want to be is not someone who is loved by everyone.

🍀 I want to be the teacher a child thinks of when they finally feel safe enough to say,

“Maybe… I’ll go and talk to that teacher.”

Every child has their own pace.

🌸 Some open their hearts quickly.

🌱 Others need time before they feel safe.

That is why I never try to force the door open.

🚪 Because the doorknob is on the inside.

What I can do is simple.

😊 Wait with a smile.

🌿 Create an atmosphere that says,

“You’re always welcome here.”

And when that child finally takes one step forward,

✨ I simply say,

“I’ve been waiting for you.”

Education is not about changing children.

It is about creating an environment where they choose to take that first step themselves.

That is the kind of teacher I hope to be.
